Re-Write Your Relationship To Stress
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Instead of managing our relationship to our thoughts, we attempt to manage what’s happening around us. When uncomfortable situations surface in life, our automatic tendency is to back away towards comfort. Yoga, when practiced properly, actually uses discomfort to reveal where we are blocked and teaches us to relax even while feeling uncomfortable. Gradually, we loosen the grip of resistance and widen our capacity to remain integrated in other situations. In this workshop, we will use yoga-based techniques to skillfully approach intensity and practice re-writing our relationships to the circumstances we otherwise waste our energy attempting to control or avoid. This session is open to yoga enthusiasts of all experience levels. The Posture of Consciousness is a unique blend of Hatha and Raja Yoga. The session is a combination of correct understanding and direct experience.

Tech Neck
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Long hours spent at a computer create a forward-pitched head posture resulting in neck & shoulder tension. Carrying around children, driving, and stress from every day activities can also slowly whittle away at our uprightness creating a head-forward, slump-shouldered and collapsed chest posture often resulting in neck, arm and upper back pain (what Tias Little calls "schlump-asana"). The focus in this workshop will be on releasing tension in the neck, upper shoulders, and jaw and creating greater freedom of movement in those areas. Reducing cranial pressure may also result in relief from common complaints such as migraines, insomnia, eye strain, and bruxism. The shoulders are so closely tied to the neck that when there is shoulder strain it often comes with neck pain. In this workshop, we'll explore gentle flowing movements (the SATYA work developed by Tias Little) as a way of releasing holding patterns in the neck and shoulders and hydrating these areas with an increased flow of blood & prana, both vital in maintaining the health and longevity of the shoulders, cervical spine, and their surrounding structures. Parameters for participation include: the ability to get up and down off the floor without assistance, freedom from medical devices, and no acute spinal disc or nerve compression. No prior yoga experience is necessary.

Chakra Perceptions- Radical Awareness of the Subtle Body
Limited Capacity seats available

You may have heard something about it, you may know nothing about it, nonetheless the health of your chakra system does effect you. Chakra means Wheel. The ancient Yogis and modern Clairvoyants who can see this energy all describe it as spinning vortices of energy that are located at certain points around the body. Most of the chakras in our energetic body correspond to main nerve centers, however, there are many more besides the simple 7 you may have heard about before. All life bodies have energetic centers- cats, dogs, horses and the Planet Earth. The power of the Chakra system then lies in much more than our simple connection to breath and our feelings. It lies to the very center of Life and connection to the Creative Source. For this connection is what causes us to be the creative energetic beings that we are. We have a Light Body made of these centers that connects to our our nerve and organ centers in the physical body, but we also have points that correspond to the Greater Energy of all life that allows us to envision and manifest on this planet. Without the chakra connection, we manifest mere base survival, and our higher forms of thought and creativity languish. Truly, as we are Spirit in a Human existence, then this connection to the Creative Force is what also causes us to be an integral part of this Source. We have Human Life Suits, if you will, that allow us to interface on the particular dimension and frequency that is Earth. It is a specific function that this body performs on this plane and it is unique in many ways. We get to sense in a tactile way the feelings and emotions of the world around us. Hence, the more clear we are in our energetic system, the more acute our own perceptions become and the more psychic we appear to be. It is not that we are ever not psychic, it is that we are frequently attuned to a lower vibration of perception that masks our awarenesses under the weight of fears and concerns, which in turn dulls our perceptions to the point of near invisibility.

Sacred Ground

The human foot is a masterpiece of engineering and a work of art. -Leonardo da Vinci When you treat foot problems with yoga, you end up treating knee pain, back pain, hip pain, and all kinds of structural problems. We place our feet into tight (albeit cute) shoes, walk around on concrete all day, and generally ignore them unless they begin to hurt. 25% of the bones in our body are in our feet. 25% of the muscles in our body are in, or connect to, our feet. When the muscles in our feet become weak, they affect the structure of the bones, causing the arches to collapse. Fallen arches can result in tendonitis, plantar fasciatis and contribute to the development of bunions, shin splints, and pain in the knees and hips. They can even affect the lower back, neck, and shoulders. In this workshop we will aim to open the plantar fascia and strengthen the muscles in the feet and lower legs, resulting in both a greater range of motion and sense of balance. Our feet are a gateway into the entire body – the organs, spine, breath, and even chakras! Maintaining the health of our feet with regular care, can literally put an extra spring in your step - physically, energetically, and emotionally!

In this participatory workshop we will explore the PATH OF THE SOUL as revealed in the archetypes of the Tarot. You’ll learn how you can use the cards as a tool for greater self-knowledge, decision-making, and for gaining illuminating insight into life’s inevitable growth challenges. Although tarot cards are an ancient system of divination associated with superstition and the occult, today they are used by many as a guidance tool for awakening and transformation. With even a little bit of use, the cards can support you in making empowered shifts in any area of your life, from relationships to health, spiritual growth, business, wealth and greater abundance. During the first ½ of the workshop, Dawn will give an overview of the tarot, explain her method for working with the cards, and show you how you can begin using them immediately, without needing years of study to understand their official meanings. During the second ½ of the workshop, you will have an opportunity to explore the cards for yourself, pull a card for reflection, and share your insights with others.

The Yoga of Chocolate: A Journey of the Senses
Limited Capacity seats available

With the practice of pratyahara you can cultivate a more intimate relationship to your experience of sensation. A less common translation of the word pratyahara is ‘to recover the senses'. In this workshop, chocolate and asana will be the vehicles which we will use to cultivate that sensitivity, as our eyes, nose, mouth, tongue, heart, and whole body take in the delicate subtleties in the different varieties of chocolate. Combined with the chocolate tastings, we will explore SATYA, somatic movement techniques developed by Tias Little, to further heighten that awareness. In this workshop, chocolate will be used as a means of directing the participants' attention inward, and not at all as a gimick. The aim is to use chocolate as a way of encouraging people to slow down and really taste, savor, and enjoy their present moment experiences, whatever they may be ( (this one they will hopefully find especially delicious!) Combining the chocolate tasting with the SATYA work from Tias Little (SATYA stands for 'somatic awareness training for yoga asana' will allow the attendees to go deeper and deeper inward through a variety of different means, both complementing one another...as they become more attuned to the smell, texture, tastes of the chocolate during the tastings, their awareness of subtle physical sensation during the movement will be heightened as well!

Bitterness creates restriction in your heart chakra and holds you back from living into your highest potential. We give away our power when we allow our energy to be consumed by hurt and resentment. Sometimes, our energy is drained by the anger we feel towards our own actions. When we learn to forgive others, we also learn to forgive ourselves. We are all good and whole at the core of our beings, and we all are doing the best we know how. Recognizing this is the first step toward forgiveness. The Kriya Ritual of Forgiveness is a powerful meditation technique using visualization and mantra to heal your heart. The ritual is performed on the internal planes through visualization. You will leave this workshop with a simple and amazingly effective tool for healing your hurt and resentment.

Limited Capacity seats available

Are you ready to experience, and then write forth the truth of who you really are? The practice of writing (and yoga) is an exploration of consciousness, a practice toward deeper self-awareness, and moves us along the path of awakening to our true nature. Many of our greatest spiritual teachers from around the world were, and are, writers. From Sappho in the 7th century BC, to Pema Chodron—from Rumi in the 13th century, to Thomas Merton, Jack Kornfield, and the Dalai Lama—the written word has the power, not only to inspire, but also to awaken the very best in the human heart. "The Yoga of Writing and Creativity" will include innovative writing exercises, dynamic yoga/movement experiences, and mindfulness to help you access a deep embodied creativity, whether you are a writer, yoga teacher, or simply a person on the path to connecting with your authentic voice!

Awaken Your Healing Voice
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

So many of us have stories about our voices. Some of us shut down our voices in response to the unkind or thoughtless words of a teacher or parent. Some of us learned to keep our feelings hidden because it wasn't safe to express them. Some of us have been struggling for years with chronic pain; unresolved emotional trauma; literally locking up our bodies with disease, discomfort, depression or more. Did you know your voice is one of the most powerful medicines available to you? Did you know that the very sound of your voice can help heal the deepest trauma and release the most stubborn blocks and emotional scars? Did you know that the sound of your own, uniquely beautiful voice can be a healing balm for yourself and others — and open a doorway to your soul? In this two hour hands-on experiential workshop, you will begin to identify and break through some of the limiting beliefs about yourself and your voice that have kept you from authentically expressing yourself with passion, authenticity and joy. Together, we will learn some simple, easy healing sound practices that will help you open to the beauty and power of your own healing voice.

Community Oriented Partner & Acro Yoga
Limited Capacity seats available

This is the gift of Partner & Acro Yoga: they cannot be practiced alone. You need to find partners, engage them and learn together. Re-discovered at the dawn of the 21st century, Partner and Acro Yoga go beyond individual yoga practice because they teach us team work and help us to rebuild the fabric of community. At a time when yoga can easily become an individualized quest, Partner & Acro Yoga are a timely opportunity to get off the rectangular mat and share the more circular, spiraling, tribal space of re-inventing together new body choreographies, new games and new ways of community spirit. Families, spouses, partners and friends all discover new and exciting ways of mutual understanding and communication. Partner and Acro Yogas are non-verbal experiences that bypass the mind and re-awaken deep levels of body & emotional intelligence. If you listen attentively, you will find many opportunities to give & receive, to experience the balance of gravity & levity, to feel physical strength and yet develop extreme sensibility. A world-wide movement with several schools, Acro Yoga and a variety of other partner yogas can now be seen practiced in many public parks. They are a global language bridging across continents & cultures. Give them a try!

The Dynamic Meditation is an active morning meditation using breath, sound and movement to unlock and release unwanted emotional and behavior patterns. It creates an opening of spiritual transformation through the body side of the mind-body-spirit trilogy. It can help identify blocks and soften or eliminate them so that healing and transformation can occur. The meditation will be an introductory half-hour active exercise, with eyes closed and focused on the inner state. There are five stages: chaotic and deep breathing, cathartic emotional release, upward energy flow and calling in of the divine (HU), witnessing, and celebration. It uses the breath to energize energies stored in our cells, memory energies that contain patterns of outdated behavior. This is an excellent practice for reclaiming centeredness when distracted by life dramas.

Heart to heart: Self care while teaching to trauma sensitive populations
Limited Capacity seats available

When we teach to trauma sensitive populations, we are doubly charged with teaching from a place of integrity. We must be willing to teach from a place of authenticity and total presence, while also maintaining unflinching safety for our students. How do we maintain those boundaries while staying engaged and compassionate? And how do we stay open while also taking care of ourselves? During this workshop, we will explore practices for maintaining personal well being while staying connected to the heart. We will explore our own reasons for doing the work we do, and delve into the ways that may or may not affect our ability to stay present with our students. Until we are scrupulously clear about our motives and the ways in which we care for them, we cannot operate with integrity. By tending to our own hearts, we can more fully attend to the hearts of others. Finally, we will identify specific practices for self care, including restorative yoga, soothing mantras, and self massage.

Awakening Vedic Sadhana – the 9 Spiritual Steps to Self Knowledge
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

The ancient Vedic tradition, which predates and informs Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, has identified core mental and spiritual self-discipline practices called Sadhana Chatushtayam.  The same impulse for Self-knowledge we have today, guided the Vedic sages thousands of years ago to give humanity this profound 9 – step sadhana. Sadhana is a dedicated spiritual discipline consistently maintained over time. This unique practice helps to clarify the mind and make it more open to discerning truth from untruth, light from darkness, and reality from that which appears as reality. When applied mindfully, sadhana leads to spiritual breakthroughs and spontaneous awakening of spiritual health and consciousness. Vedic Sadhana prepares the seeker to lead an awakened inner life - approaching the highest knowledge of Self with clarity, without confusions and illusions. It can lead us on a path to greater self-awareness and greater dharma in all our engagements.

Join Aparna Amy Lewis, Dean of the Spiritual Studies Program at Vedika Global wisdom school in California, as she shares practical ways you can align with these 9 steps in your own life. Learn how this one-of-a–kind sadhana discipline can deepen your Yoga practice, both on and off the mat.

These Sadhana practices will help you to:

  • Learn ways to make healthier life choices and feel better about yourself every day
  • Deepen all of your relationships and build stronger communities
  • Gain self-confidence from personal accountability and consistency in spiritual practices and beliefs.

Namaste as a Spiritual Practice
Limited Capacity seats available

Yoga teaches the interconnectedness of all life. We are all one in the ocean of consciousness. This is a profound teaching that invites us to dissolve the boundaries of ego and connect more deeply with those around us. However, it can sometimes be confusing to figure out exactly how we are supposed to do this. Ego a sacred part of our being and a necessary tool for embodiment. Ego helps us define where we end and another human being begins. It helps us create and maintain healthy boundaries to live an earth plane existence in which we need to feed, clothe, and protect ourselves. While the project of the ego goes against the recognition of oneness, it is not in itself ‘bad'. Indeed, a well-trained ego can be among our most powerful allies as we walk our spiritual path. If left untrained, however, or permitted to obscure our true selves, ego can be our very worst enemy. In this workshop, you will learn tools to keep your ego in its proper place as an ally in embodiment, allowing your true connection to the sacred oneness of all things to emerge into consciousness. These skills will help you to live Namaste as part of a daily practice.

Embodying Shakti: Reclaiming Sita's Fire
Limited Capacity seats available

HELLO SHAKTI: Humankind has acknowledged the Divine Feminine for millennia, in its endless search for understanding and mystical union with the Universe. The diverse faces of the Goddess archetype – known in the East by many different guises, but always as Shakti, the great feminine energy that exists both within and without our bodies – can teach us many important lessons about creativity, love, healing, protection, dedication and personal power. Sita, avatar of Lakshmi, has long been categorized as the submissive wife of Rama. But if we dive deeper into Sita's story, we uncover a woman of unique spiritual fire and purpose; she who is unfraid of the flames and remains dedicated to her personal truth. In reclaiming Sita's fire - her blazing Agni - we generate our own firepower, burn bright, and light up the Universe. Join Ana Pilar and Jamie as they tap into the Great Goddess energy within through a dynamic, playful and creative blend of storytelling, yoga and drum-guided visual meditation. By embodying these energies in both the physical (yoga asana) and metaphysical (guided meditation) realms, participants begin to recognize the Shakti energy moving through and around them every day, as well as start building personal practices that channel this vibrant feminine power to lift them toward their full potentials. All genders welcome!

The Spirit of Vedic Thai Yoga Bodywork
Limited Capacity seats available

Learn the ancient Healing Art of Thailand to take care of your partner or friend with intentional, loving and nurturing touch. Vedic Thai Yoga Bodywork, like Yoga, balances and enhances on all levels, physical, emotional and mental, allowing the body's intelligence to respond and inspire healing itself. You'll watch demonstrations and practice giving and receiving with a partner. You do not have to be a professional to participate and learn. The only prerequisites are the willingness to give and receive. You will learn: - How to apply a basic sequence of elegant and transforming Thai-Yoga Bodywork asanas and techniques, including transitions. - How to use breath, meditation, mantra, bandha, and yogic techniques to enhance the quality of the session. - To harmonize Shakti/Chi to balance mental energy, enhance the immune system, and stimulate higher consciousness. While we do compress, stretch and manipulate particular muscles and other parts of the physical body, our focused intention is the underlying, unseen energetic body. Being under the hood so to speak, this energetic component is running the entire system which is directly connected to our conscious awareness as humans. This is where real transformative therapy takes place. Join David and Leah for your next step of healing by learning to give to another and receive joyfully! Vedic Thai Massage (Nuad Borarn) or Assisted Yoga is viewed as a martial art of healing and is reported to manifest instant positive results. In Thailand, bodywork is utilized medicinally as a cherished and revered indulgence to remedy the prominent social ailments such as emotional stress and physical inertia. Vedic Thai Massage is Love! It is a sacred offering, a conscious contribution to self-realization and soul revelation, the goal and purpose of life. Deliberate and skillful intentions of joyful communication, Thai Yoga massage produces profound pleasure and inspiring tranquility both physically and psychologically by replacing old restricted energy patterns within the body/spirit. This dignified and communally cherished art parallels in sophistication results obtained by other modern medical options. Why Vedic? Sri Dhanvantari appears in the Vedas as the father of all healing, carrying healing nectar. Sri Dhanvantari is an incarnation of the preserver energy, Vishnu. The Su Darshana Chakra, the disc you see on our materials, is Vishnu's protective discus, symbolizing peace, protection, and prosperity. The Ancient Vedic culture of Asia was the progenitor of modern-day India and Thailand, which is why we honor Sri Dhanvantari as the original source of Thai Yoga Bodywork. - Mukti Michael Buck, founder of Vedic Conservatory
