LAND HIKE: Forest Bathing with Suzi Minor
Limited Capacity seats available

Shinrin-Yoku

Shinrin-Yoku is a Japanese practice that was established in the 1980’s. Shinrin-Yoku translates to “forest bathing” or immersing oneself into a deeper connection with nature. Through a series of invitations that encourage participants to slow down and open the senses, an enjoyable quiet state of being takes root.

By engaging each of the senses more purposefully we begin to silence the distractions of the outside world that tend to keep us from being fully aware of our surroundings. These invitations allow us to become more present into place. The practice begins by coming together as a group then dispersing on our own into the forest then coming together again to share those experiences.

Research and scientific studies support the many positive health benefits that can result from forest immersion. Exposure to wood essential oils, called phytoncides, which are a chemical released by certain plants to protect them from disease, have proven to be a vital component to increasing natural killer cells in the body while further studies have shown that nature immersion reduces blood pressure and blood cortisol levels.

We lead you on a powerful transformational hike out into the spectacular & awe inspiring beauty of the energy activating vortexes of Sedona with self awareness exercises and therapeutic group unwinding to clear out what you are wanting to clear out and bring in that which you are wanting to bring into your life. Myofascial Unwinding allows us to reach into areas of our body restrictions in ways that can't be reached in any other way & release subconscious holding patterns. It unravels our blocks on many levels & opens our physical, emotional & energetic spaces in our body to make room for that which we are wanting to bring in. This is a powerful form of treatment in our treatment space and even more so outside in Sedona's vortexes with group energy. We set intentions, partake in guided meditations, spiritual education, sound healing through voice to raise the body's vibrational field & remove blockages, group hands on healing and group unwinding and finding your own personal power spot. It is quite a powerful experience and an opportunity to take a big leap in your healing process!!

Alchemy of Fire: DURGA REBEL SPIRIT VINYASA FLOW
Limited Capacity full

Yoga works to inspire a REBEL SPIRIT in all of us. Have you ever wondered how yoga helps us move beyond resistance to fear and Let Go of what’s holding us back? In this workshop learn how your Rebel Spirit comes from Durga often called the Mother of the universe who protects mankind from misery by destroying selfishness, jealousy, prejudice, hatred, and anger.

Durga, the goddess of power (shakti) and strength over negativity is also the mother of bounty and wealth, and of beauty and knowledge, for her daughters are Lakshmi and Saraswati (goddesses of wealth and knowledge, respectively).

We will invoke the badass energy of Durga, Invincibility, to stand up for our life! We will inhabit the poses with fierce kindness and peaceful determination and strut away inspired to be ourselves. Join me for some playful, radical fun flow to stoke your rebel spirit!

Bending Backward: Explore, Grow, and Expand!
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Philosophically, backbends are associated with a movement into the unknown, into our future. This workshop will give participants the tools they need to go deeper in their bodies, and in their lives, into unknown terrains and realms. Move deeper into intermediate and advanced backbends by learning appropriate body mechanics to safely explore the edges of our practice. We all have our limits; but it is important to test and ask why we set parameters on our own exploration, growth, and expansion. Backbends are some of the most beautiful yoga postures; but also some of the more complicated and difficult ones. This workshop will warm students up for these deep postures, and provide them with proper alignment tools to move safely into back bending asanas. This will be a mixed level workshop where students will be given the chance to move into more advanced postures as they are ready.

This is an on the land experience. Participants will travel with instructor, and be guided by Aumbase Sedona Coconino Nat'l FS permitted guide Carrie Khonya to Chapel Trail. Meet in lobby for shuttle.

Southern Forms of Kalari Movement
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

In this session we will introduce the first 3 Southern Empty Hands Forms, including the Salutation form. Native to the Southern Kerala practitioners of Kalarippayattu, these forms are now utilized to find peace and stability in times of stress. These standing sequences include turns, blocks, and kicks where we metaphorically eliminate obstacles that block our path through life. Kalaripayattu is known as Kalari in the West. It is an ancient martial and healing art that originated in Southern India thousands of years ago and has influences from the Druvidains and Aryans. There are references of Kalari (referred as martial techniques) in the ancient text The Vedas, the Mahabharata and Ramayana. The history of Kalari is of mythology, secrets, exploitation and experience passed through the generations. It is amazing that the art is still alive today given its difficult history. Being that Kalari is both a martial and a healing art, a practitioner or viewer has multiple paths to follow. We (Kalari Movement) choose to follow and teach the health and wellness aspects of Kalari. The art is life practice of preservation, to preserve ones-self and the life of others.
