This workshop will introduce you to the theory and practice of Yin yoga, Taoism, Chinese Medicine, modern meridian theory and the energy body. Join James and KristaLove for an exploration into individual range of motion, and learn how to personalize yin postures with props and modifications for your unique body. You will practice yin yoga to personally apply the discussion, and leave with a greater awareness of breath and body mechanics to support a lifelong practice that can be applied to all forms of yoga. We will: Cover yin poses from an anatomical perspective to help students make their practice more personal Introduce concepts of Taoism and Chinese medicine that have contributed to the development of this practice Discuss yin and yang as philosophies and as styles of exercise -discuss the theory of exercise Examine how yin yoga affects connective tissue anatomically and energetically through modern meridian theory Work collaboratively to examine anatomical differences and how that relates to our practice Practice yin yoga with the application of our discussions to explore our personal practice Yin yoga is a transformational practice that supports mindful awareness of one's physical, energetic, emotional and mental equilibrium. Poses are held for an extended time with relaxed muscles and deep breathing, allowing the body to soften and the postures to stimulate connective tissues, i.e. fascia and ligament, as well as affect bone density, joint mobility, and the overall health of the internal organs.
