The human foot is a masterpiece of engineering and a work of art. -Leonardo da Vinci When you treat foot problems with yoga, you end up treating knee pain, back pain, hip pain, and all kinds of structural problems. We place our feet into tight (albeit cute) shoes, walk around on concrete all day, and generally ignore them unless they begin to hurt. 25% of the bones in our body are in our feet. 25% of the muscles in our body are in, or connect to, our feet. When the muscles in our feet become weak, they affect the structure of the bones, causing the arches to collapse. Fallen arches can result in tendonitis, plantar fasciatis and contribute to the development of bunions, shin splints, and pain in the knees and hips. They can even affect the lower back, neck, and shoulders. In this workshop we will aim to open the plantar fascia and strengthen the muscles in the feet and lower legs, resulting in both a greater range of motion and sense of balance. Our feet are a gateway into the entire body – the organs, spine, breath, and even chakras! Maintaining the health of our feet with regular care, can literally put an extra spring in your step - physically, energetically, and emotionally!
