This workshop on arm balancing and inversions will be challenging, playful, and accessible. It is designed for intermediate and advanced practitioners. We will break down the mechanics of balancing on our hands so that participants will leave with the foundational knowledge to approach all arm balances and their transitions and introduce and break down the major inverted postures. Participants will work on mastering the correct alignment in these postures to defy gravity and learn to fly. When we understand the basics and foundation, these postures that were seemingly difficult are unlocked, and suddenly become a mere balancing act. Like learning the secrets to a magic trick, arm balancing and inverting may appear to be difficult, but with correct alignment and body mechanics, we are all magicians. Life is all about balance; and as in life, so on the mat. This workshop will explore the mechanics of arm balancing and inverted postures so that participants will leave with the confidence and ability to master these seemingly complicated postures. Balance is about mastering and fine tuning the subtle. Like a castle made of cards, balance is achieved through setting the right foundation and stacking the scaffolding in just the right place. Maggie believes anyone can defy gravity and learn to fly on their hands and can’t wait to give you the tools to do so too. This workshop will be challenging for those who are already advanced with an arm balancing practice who want to work on transitions, and is designed for those who are broadening their practice into the more advanced and intermediate realms that include arm balances and inversions.
