Our beautiful hips, known as the body’s ‘junk drawer’ or ‘attic’, are often where we ‘hoard’ painful memories and undigested emotions. I often say that I stored my ‘junior prom night’ in my right hip – lol! And I’m guessing you might have a particularly powerful memory or two lodged in your hip ‘storage units’. You certainly don’t need to be able to name whatever painful memory or negative energy is stressing, inflaming or tightening up your lower body to know that ‘hoarding hips’ often reflect in undesirable physical effects. Think cranky low back, stingy hamstrings, unforgiving quads, shortened hip flexors, sore knees, stiff ankles and even stressed-out feet - as well as hips that just plain hurt. Set to the sweet beats of Mixtress Hava , enjoy a delicious combination of intentional breath, slow-flowing rhythmic asana, exploratory deep stretches and gentle reminders to release attachments (vairayga) and practice compassion (ahimsa). We will tune in to those hips and hip-surrounding areas so we can open up, de-clutter and revel in a juicy surrendering of whatever it is that’s been hidden away behind the locked doors of your ‘hoarding’ hip joints.
