Heart to heart: Self care while teaching to trauma sensitive populations

When we teach to trauma sensitive populations, we are doubly charged with teaching from a place of integrity. We must be willing to teach from a place of authenticity and total presence, while also maintaining unflinching safety for our students. How do we maintain those boundaries while staying engaged and compassionate? And how do we stay open while also taking care of ourselves? During this workshop, we will explore practices for maintaining personal well being while staying connected to the heart. We will explore our own reasons for doing the work we do, and delve into the ways that may or may not affect our ability to stay present with our students. Until we are scrupulously clear about our motives and the ways in which we care for them, we cannot operate with integrity. By tending to our own hearts, we can more fully attend to the hearts of others. Finally, we will identify specific practices for self care, including restorative yoga, soothing mantras, and self massage.
